Fathers Day....

Mothers Day was one of the most emotional days I've had this year.  Thankfully, it went by pretty fast....considering.  Now we're celebrating another holiday that will is very bitter sweet.  I've been thinking a lot about it this past week.  I knew it was coming, but like a lot of things in life, I couldn't stop it from happening.

Today marks the 2nd fathers day without my Poppie (grandpa).  He was REALLY sick in 2009.  We knew his time was coming to an end.  Our entire family prayed that Poppie would live long enough for us to spend one more Fathers Day with him.  God granted our prayer, but that wasn't enough for me.  I never had dreams of what my wedding would look like, or even who I would marry, but all I knew was that I wanted my Poppie to marry me and my husband.  I was so excited when we got engaged because that meant that I could start planning the wedding that my Poppie would perform.

Unfortunately, the Lord said it was time to take my Poppie home early in the morning the day after Fathers Day 2009.  While I didn't get my dream of Poppie doing our wedding, I know that he was there and was smiling at me and Luke!

I miss him so much, but I know that's he's walking on streets of gold, and I would never want to take him away from that, but sometimes, I selfishly wish that I could see his face and hear him tell me that he loves me just one more time.

Happy Fathers day to all of the daddy's out there.  I hope you're spending time with the one's your love!  Maybe one day Luke and I will be able to rejoice in Mothers/Fathers Day, but until then...Happy Fathers Day to every other daddy out there!

  1. I know today is a difficult day for you in many ways. Do remember that Poppie was very proud of you and loved you very much. It was very obvious every time I talked to him how much he loved his Lord, his family and his church and how important all of you were to him. melissa
