More than you ever wanted to know about me-- Part 2

Well ladies and gent(s)- I'm back with another round of things that you could have gone the rest of your life without knowing about me.  So, sit back and enjoy.

  • I do not, and I repeat DO NOT, like one or two letter/word texts.  If you send me a text that says "k" or "ok" or "yup" I WILL send you another text forcing you to at least write more than a few words.  Come on, people, it's 2012.  If verbal communication is being limited due to modern technology, at least do yourselves a favor and don't dumb down texts.   Here's a link to a YouTube video about one letter texting.  I apologize in advance for wasting 4 minutes of your time, but just watch it!  Click me!
  • I am VERY indecisive.  Getting me to choose a restaurant for dinner is like putting a preppy/stylish girl in front of her closet--I just don't know what to choose!
  • I absolutely L-O-V-E school supplies.  Without fail, I head straight to the school supplies section of walmart every time I walk through the front doors.  A little excessive?  Maybe.  But hey, I don't want to miss a new stylish pen or notebook that may have been put on the shelves since the last time I was there (which was probably two days before!).
  • I cannot, cannot, cannot, CANNOT handle wet hair.  You know, the kind that falls out of your head in the shower and clogs up the drain causing the water to build up in the bottom of your tub?  Yeah, I can't do it.  It makes me gag.  Literally.  It's completely gross.  It's definitely a texture thing.  Plus, who wants to grab someone's hair from the drain after their stank has been washed off and their dead skin cells have collected with the soap suds at the bottom of their drain?  Yeah, definitely not this gal!
  • I have NO tolerance for ignorant and inconsiderate comments, especially ones that are infertility related.  I'm not a confrontational person, but I've learned to stand up for myself and for my husband during this round of infertility.  Here's a conversation I just had (literally, while I was in the middle of this post) with an old Sunday School teacher that I just added to my Facebook.

Him: Hey long time no see

Me: yeah, no kidding

Him: How things going

Me: They're going. That's about it.  Just working and going to school.

Him: Cool that's good to hear

Me: Yeah. :)

Him: Still Married? Still working for Jesus? Any Kids yet?

Me: Yes, still married. We're in the process of looking for a new church. No kids, we both have infertility issues. We actually have an appointment on the 17 with a fertility specialist in St. Louis and we're considering in-vitro.

Him: What was that verse I tried to get all of y'all to remember. (he was referring to Hebrews 11:1 about faith)

Me: Yeah, it's not that I don't have faith, Wesley, we've been trying for 19 months.

Him: I know but sit back and let GOD work, we as humans tend to want to help. I am not saying don't go to fertility specialist, don't get me wrong. I just don't want you two to get impatient or frustrated. GOD will give you kids when he knows you are ready. I know its hard to understand but just have faith. Glad you remembered that!

Me: Right, but who's to say that this isn't how God will provide children for us? We've sat back for 19 months and have accomplished nothing but heartache and sorrow. So many people are too quick to say that we need to sit back and let God do His thing, but I wholeheartedly believe that God can be in ANY situation, whether that be natural pregnancy, or reproductive technology. All children are blessings and are sent from Him.

Him: Your absolutely right, just keep praying about it. I will keep you in my prayers and don't give up. I will talk more to you later.

  1. Oh I am sure you are so anxious to have that second chat! He reminds me of a joke I once heard:
A Christian man is caught in a flood so he prays, "Lord, deliver me from this flood and save my life!". Soon someone comes to the edge of the river and says, "Hey! I'll cut this tree down and you can grab hold and climb to safety!" but the man yells back, "NO, I'm waiting for God to deliver me!". A bit later a boat arrives and the people aboard say, "Quick, climb aboard and we can take you to shore!" but the man replies, "NO, I'm waiting for God to deliver me!". So a bit later a helicopter flies overhead with a rope dropped down to the man, "Grab hold and well pull you to safety!" but the man says, "NO, I'm waiting for God to deliver me!". So the flood waters become too high and the man dies. He gets to heaven and asks God, "Why didn't you deliver me??" and God responds, "I sent you a guy on the shore, a boat, AND a helicopter! What more did you want??"
Loving your random things about you and I kinda gave you an award today to make you share even more ;)

  2. Sometimes we Christians say the most ignorant things. I feel confident that God will be with you, holding your hand as you go through procedures. If God says no to something at first, it doesn't mean you should say, Yes, sir. Sometimes you have to push and look for other methods to solve a problem. I don't think God wants us to give up when he says no. He wants us to find the yes.

    Love,
    Janie

    P. S. Someone amazing, beautiful and extra sweet sent me a letter. It was so sweet I cried and then read it to Cade. You've blessed my life so much! Thank you, woman. I'm so grateful to know you.

  5. I'm crazy indecisive too. And those hair balls that get stuck in the drain? My hubs has named them my "squirrels" because they seriously get to be such giant balls of hair and I refuse to touch them... gross.

p.s. good for you for standing up for you and your husband!

  7. UGH.

I hate when people do that. Seriously. Sometimes I too have questioned God's methods, haven't we all? But in the end, I was stronger and more prepared because of the mountain he gave me to climb to get there.

So glad you could stand up to them.

  11. Ohhh those texts bug me too! I think "k"offends me the most! I'm the same way with restaurants and choosing whats for dinner. I think its adorable that you love the back to school section! Haha when you have kids, you'll have even more excuses to head down that aisle.
About your sunday school teacher, I agree with what you said 100%. Whats that story about the man on his roof during a flood who just sits there saying "God will save me" while every opportunity of safety was sent his way by God, and he ignored them?? Then when he died, he asked Gid why he didnt save him, and God says "i sent you 3 different boats!" Well hunny, the clinic is your boat. Thoughts and prayers for you on the 17th!
