Neglectful blogger

I just realized it's been almost a month since my last post. Umm, what is happening to me?  My blog used to be my life.  I have always enjoyed updating my blog, but lately...not so much. Quite a bit has happened in the last month, so let me tell you about it all!

  • I had a doctors appointment with a new gyno.  Great things are on the horizon.  I think I finally found a doctor that is perfect for me.  Just a quick rundown...After a consultation with the doctor, she has agreed to try 3 cycles of IUI.  THIS is a BIG deal, folks.  NO ONE has agreed to even consider trying IUI.  All of my options before were strictly IVF and nothing else.  So, for a doctor to listen to me and be willing to at least TRY (even if it doesn't work!), is a HUGE deal.  In the meantime, I'm still on Provera (and she's hitting my emotions with a vengeance!), and I'm on Metformin again (this time I'm trying the extended release because last time I was on the regular kind, and my body hated me!!!)  I'm working to loose 10% of my weight and then it's IUI cycle #1 for us.  I will update occasionally on the weight loss, but hopefully the metformin will help me loose weight.  The doctor said that with the Metformin and 30 minutes of exercise a day, she doesn't see why I couldn't be back in three months to start IUI #1! So, we'll see! Also, one cycle for IUI will only cost $500-$600 where IVF was $11,700.  Uh, can you say BIIIIG difference?!?! :-)
  • Just two days after my appointment with the new gyno, Luke and I "celebrated" our 2 year TTC anniversary.  We released sky lanterns in honor of our miscarriages, and let go all of the hurt and pain we've had over the last two years.  What an experience that was.

  • I got a "real" job (as my husband would say).  I am a Classroom Aide at one of our local Head Start programs.  I work one-on-one with a child.  I'm basically his shadow throughout the day.  Since I'm now working at Head Start, that means that I had to give up my in-home daycare *insert lots of tears.* Giving up my daycare broke my heart, but we needed the money, and I think it's good for me to be around other adults AND get my little kid fix all at the same time.  Plus, I've only been at Head Start for 4 days, and I already have two new prospective Scentsy customers. Score!
  • I attended my first Scentsy Convention at the end of July!  By far, it was one of the best experiences of my life!  I am SUPER excited about this next year of business with Scentsy and cannot wait to work hard and watch my business expand. Here is my Convention "buddy," Mollie! She kept me company on the long flights and lonely nights.

I'm not sure when I'll be able to update again.  With this new job, I am at work by 7 and am there until 3 or later.  I've been so exhausted that I go to bed by 8:30 (yes, I'm an old woman!) and then I start my day all over the next morning.  But, I will try to update more than once a month, for sure.

I hope all of you and your families are well.  I miss reading your updates and getting your comments.

Blessings to you all,
Alicia Marie

  1. It was so nice to read this upbeat post! It seems like this new doctor is perfect and I'm praying for you!

Congratulations on your job with Head Start. It is a wonderful program. As a teacher, I'm thrilled to know that kids are having the opportunities to experience early learning. It is so critical for their success later in school.

We now have an early childhood program in our elementary school. It's such a blessing for our community!

  3. Hi! I stumbled across your blog and wanted to say hello. I'm a fellow (former) IF'er, so I totally get the crazy hormones from meds. My husband and I tried 5 years for our son, Kade...and then in God's good humor, he graced our lives with Kohen 21 months later. We tried IUI but ulitmately ended up getting pregnant on our own. I'll be praying for you and I would love to add your blog to my support group page. Take care! My infertility blog is www.myprayershispromises.blogspot.com
Feel free to check it out if you want.

  4. Oh this post is awesome!! I have tears in my eyes:) I have been praying for you, and of course will continue to! I am thrilled for you and Luke. I cannot wait for this IUI adventure. Your new gyno is great, please hug her for me. I think it's so sweet that you guys released lanterns, and all of the pain with them. Time to leave that chapter behind, and start a new one! It seems like you're both doing better, which is also great.
I'm a bit envious of your job. I would LOVE to do something like that! It's too bad about the daycare, but I bet it feels good to get out, and work with new people:) hoooray for scentsy clients! I've been meaning to buy more wax, but I'm so busy, tired, and forgetful.
Love the pictures of you:) you are one gorgeous babe!
    I hope you post soon!
